The History Project

So, Samantha comes home from school 2 weeks ago and says, "Mom, I have to build a diorama. I want to do the Hopi Indians." My first thought is, "I hate school projects. They are homework for parents! Why can't teachers do this crap at school."

So, in our usual way, we put it off for a week and then started talking about it and in the end, it was tons of fun working on this with Samantha. She was really excited and the project was a lot of fun.

Samantha worked really hard.

We built a model of a Hopi home.

And we had to make to replica (aka fake) artifacts that would have come from a Hopi Village.

We did a piece of pottery.

And a Kachina doll. This dolls are religious in nature and represent the the Wind, Sun and Sky.

Samantha also wrote a fantastic 4 page paper all about the Hopi Indians. Considering we have never been to Arizona, never seen a Hopi home, and knew nothing about them until we checked out books from the library, I think the project turned out great!

Way to go Samantha!

Wow! It looks like it turned out really good. I think you both deserve an A plus although maybe Jeri's can come in the form of a pedicure?
