Fun Recipes to make with Kids

Both Samantha and Olivia had cooking projects due for school, so we got on the internet and found 2 winners. I just wanted to share them with you.

For Samantha's class, we had to make something that would be made or eaten in the southwest. My requirement was that we were able to make it ahead of time because anyone who knows me will tell you, I am NOT a morning person and this had to be ready at 8am. So, we decided on tortilla cookies. Here is the recipe:

Julia's kindergarten class is having a pumpkin tasting party. The teacher wanted to have as many different varieties of pumpkin foods as possible. I wanted to stay away from the pumpkin pie, rolls or bars. Well, I found this great recipe for Cold Pumpkin Soup. The recipe says that it can also be served as a thick punch (like Egg Nog).

  • 1 lg. Can pumpkin
  • 1 qt. Coffee creamer
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar or equal amount of sweet and low
  • 1 cup rum or 2 teaspoons rum extract
  • Pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon, ground cloves to taste.
Mix the above in a blender, chill thoroughly before serving. Serve in chilled bowls topped with a whipped cream product or for a festive occasion, serve in a punch bowl with a seperate bowl of whipped cream for garnish.

(Wouldn't it be cute to use a large pumpkin as a punch bowl at a fall party!)

Both recipes are very yummy! I hope you enjoy!!
